7+1: What I'm reading, watching, listening to, etc...

In running different online massive communities I’ve noticed a concerning human trend, and it’s easy to fall into this trap:

“If I don’t like it, it must not be good.”

We’ve all done it. You see something gaining popularity, or someone doing things differently, and your first thought is, “Why would anyone like that?” And just like that, we decide it’s wrong or pointless, just because we don’t get it.

Just because something doesn’t click with you doesn’t mean it’s not valuable to someone else.

Whether it’s a new way of doing business, a social trend, or even the way someone communicates, other people have different tastes, backgrounds, and reasons for what they like or do. And that’s okay. What if instead of dismissing things we don’t understand, we got curious?

“What are they seeing that I’m not?”
“Why does this work for them?”
“What can I learn here?”

That small shift, from judgment to curiosity, can open up a whole new perspective.

You don’t have to like everything. But staying open-minded keeps you growing, and keeps you connected to people who think differently than you. And in today’s world, that might just be your biggest advantage.

A few years ago I had the Brilliant Thoughts Podcast that had over 2 million downloads in about a year. It was a massive success. I closed that chapter down when I left Success Magazine. Now I’m starting the Brilliant Podcast. Where I’ll be talking to authors of great books that I think we should all be reading. Please subscribe on Youtube until I get the podcast up on Apple.

Mark Twain

This just came out and I just started reading it. I know some of you may be saying, “Another Mark Twain Book?” but trust me, this one is by a great author who has had some amazing books in the past. Excited to finish this one, but it may take me a few months because it’s a big one.

This was a very well made video that explains the process really well. It focuses on the right things that not many people talk about. It’s super simple and I highly recommend you watch this.

I’ve been testing out some index cards because I take a lot of notes from when I read books and also when I have thoughts as I’m reading. I use index cards daily and I love this set I found.

I went over this in group coaching earlier this week. I broke down my notes on this and went over what we should be focused on when showing up for life and business. Graham advises embracing originality, maintaining intellectual honesty, and being willing to challenge conventional norms. He also highlights the importance of resilience, suggesting that perseverance through challenges is crucial.

I’ve been retesting this to make sure it’s the best video editor out there. I tested out Descript and Viva video again and Capcut is still the winner. If you don’t have the app please use it for editing videos.
