Most of the big problems I see among business owners stem from their lack of self-control when it comes to emotions. They don't hold their tongues and lack emotional temperance, then wonder why they struggle to achieve consistent, long-term success.

Other people watching or on the receiving end of their verbal outbursts aren't stupid – they mentally log what happens and learn to avoid doing business with such individuals. It's all about how you make people feel, not about your feelings.

WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT

The Youtube Webinar this week. We had Sean Cannell on late last year and now it’s part 2. People that joined us for the first session were glad they did. We had such an amazing response that we are bringing him back again. I’ve been doing a lot more Youtube lately so I’m excited to listen in and ask questions too.

BOOK I’M READING

Say It Well. I just interviewed the author of this book and the book is practically a manual for anyone that wants to be an amazing speaker. Terry was one of the main speech writers for President Obama for almost 8 years. This book isn’t for everyone, but if you are looking to up your speaking game and presentation game then this is the one.

WHAT I’M WATCHING

Jeff Bezos interview. I just printed the transcript to go over it and dissect it. It was a good talk and some good lessons in the interview that you can apply to your life. Worth the watch or listen as you are walking or exercising. 

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO

The Mel Robbins Podcast. This one episode was about eating better, and feeling healthier. I took a lot of notes on this one and found it very valuable. Hope you do too.

WHAT I JUST BOUGHT

Pilot Pens. I bought some pens that are .3, it’s thin, but I really like them and they are gel pens so they are smooth. If you are looking for some good quality thin writing pens these are the ones.

In addition, employees who experience high-quality listening report greater levels of job satisfaction and psychological safety. If you’re interested in sharpening your listening skills, try using these four techniques: (1) Listen until the end — don’t jump in or interrupt the speaker; (2) Listen to summarize the problem, not to solve it; (3) Balance your focus between building a connection with the speaker and understanding the issue they’re presenting you with; (4) Listen for values — whether someone is ranting about something small or sharing something emotional or complex, it’s an opportunity for you to learn more about what’s important to them.

WHAT TECH I’M TESTING OUT

InVideo Ai. At this point I don’t any of us can keep up with everything being released that’s Ai drivin. But I’m looking to focus on the websites that stand out and provide quality content or solutions. I think this is one of them. They make some great videos.
