7+1: What I'm reading, watching, listening to, etc...

According to psychologist Dr. Gloria Mark, the average attention span for an adult human has dropped from two and a half minutes in 2004 to just forty-seven seconds in 2023. It’s continuing to decline.
Neuroscientist Sahar Yousef says, “Smartphones are the biggest drains on the human brain in the twenty-first century.”
From the book “Nobody Is Coming To Save You!” - by Scott Mann
WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT
Leading With Cultural Intelligence. Famous professor and author David Livermore will talk to me about how to run a better business for the future. The last time I had him on the podcast it went viral, so he’s on again. We’ll talk about how cultural intelligence equips leaders to lead in today’s complex world—whether working with a global team, navigating politics in the workplace, or expanding into new markets.
BOOK I’M READING
Nobody is coming to save you. I am just about done with this book because I'm interviewing Scott Mann this Friday for our new podcast, Brilliant. It’s a powerful book that tackles the current cultural challenges that we are having as a country and how we can overcome it by working on ourselves first.
WHAT I’M WATCHING
Dramatically Better Conversations. According to Charles’ latest work, supercommunicators understand that whenever we speak, we’re actually participating in one of three conversations: practical (What’s this really about?), emotional (How do we feel?), and social (Who are we?). If you don’t know what kind of conversation you’re having, you’re unlikely to connect. “Supercommunicators” know the importance of recognizing—and then matching—each kind of conversation and how to hear the complex emotions, subtle negotiations, and deeply held beliefs that color so much of what we say and how we listen.
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO
Joe Rogan and Trump. This was a very interesting podcast to listen to. Whether you hate or love either of these two people it was something important for me to listen to so I can better understand a person that is in the spotlight currently. I’m always looking to see what I can learn from different people and situations, and this is no different.
WHAT I JUST BOUGHT
Mudwtr. I’ve been off of Coffee for 2 weeks now and it’s not tough at all, I actually don’t miss it. I have picked up a few things like AG1 and this product here called MUDWTR. It’s a blend of some things that have helped me stay focused throughout the day. So far I like it a lot. I was a user of this product when it first came out, but stopped for 2 years.
ARTICLE I’M READING
Why Employees Quit. The so-called war for talent is still raging. But in that fight, employers continue to rely on the same hiring and retention strategies they’ve been using for decades. Why? Because they’ve been so focused on challenges such as poaching by industry rivals, competing in tight labor markets, and responding to relentless cost-cutting pressures that they haven’t addressed a more fundamental problem: the widespread failure to provide sustainable work experiences. To stick around and give their best, people need meaningful work, managers and colleagues who value and trust them, and opportunities to advance in their careers, the authors say. By supporting employees in their individual quests for progress while also meeting the organization’s needs, managers can create employee experiences that are mutually beneficial and sustaining.
WHAT TECH I’M TESTING OUT
RealEstate Content Ai. Holy Moly, this is on another level. I just made my social media content for my real estate team for 1 month in 3 minutes. This is the coolest, most useful tool I've tried in the last 30 days!
WHAT I’M WORKING ON
Social Media Calendar for November 2024. Every month we’ve got you covered. If you need it just text me to 310-356-3715 and our team will send it to you.
