7+1: What I'm reading, watching, listening to, etc...

Every week gives us a choice. We can move forward with energy and courage, or we can fall back into comfort. The truth is growth rarely comes from what’s easy. It comes from the calls we’d rather not make, the risks we hesitate to take, and the work that stretches us.

This week, remind yourself that progress is built on small consistent actions. Even one bold step today can set the tone for everything that follows. Start with courage, stay with discipline, and end with gratitude.

WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT
Y Realty is opening in Chicago: Illinois

This move isn’t just about expanding into a new market, it’s about growing a community and putting the heart back into real estate. With Chicago underway, I’m already looking at the next two states. The mission is simple: bring agents and clients together in a way that values trust, care, and impact.

BOOK I’M READING
Press Play by Bastian Bermann

This book explores how companies can use gaming principles to shape strategy and growth. Bermann compares business to open-world games where players must explore, adapt, and make smart choices to move forward. For business owners, the lesson is clear: success comes from understanding your environment, engaging your audience, and designing systems that keep people invested long-term. It’s a refreshing way to think about leadership, innovation, and growth.

It’s one of the most replayed talks for a reason. Jobs speaks openly about connecting the dots, finding love in what you do, and remembering that time is limited. As business owners, it’s a clear reminder to keep purpose at the center of your work. Rewatching it always leaves me focused and grateful.

The latest deep dive into Bill Gates breaks down how he built Microsoft, the intensity of his work ethic, and the lessons in focus and strategy that carried him through. What stands out is Gates’ obsession with learning and thinking long-term. For business owners, it’s a reminder that mastery comes from curiosity, discipline, and relentless drive to improve.

WHAT I JUST BOUGHT
A Hobonichi 2026 A5 Calendar

This Japanese planner is well known for its simple but powerful layout that helps you stay intentional with your time. Writing things down by hand slows you down just enough to think clearly about priorities. For me, it’s a reminder that productivity is not about doing more, it’s about doing what matters most.

Many companies falter after a great early leader departs. An outstanding exception is Costco. Since Jim Sinegal retired as Costco’s CEO, in January 2012, the membership warehouse retailer has continued to thrive even as many other retailers have struggled or died. Its success is a testament to the Code of Ethics and five deeply held convictions that Sinegal embedded in the company’s DNA. They emphasize that taking care of customers and employees and treating suppliers with respect will lead to extraordinary customer and employee loyalty and shareholder value. How Sinegal ingrained his approach to business into Costco’s culture and operating model hold lessons for leaders of companies of all sizes.

WHAT TECH I’M TESTING OUT
Notion AI

I’ve been trying it out to organize projects, capture ideas, and even draft outlines. What I like is how it connects with team collaboration while also helping me speed up writing and brainstorming. If you’re running a business, tools like this save time and bring structure to your daily work.

WHAT I’M WORKING ON
Past Client Letter

I just updated the Past Client Letter I send to homeowners. Staying connected after the sale is one of the most important ways to build lasting relationships. If you’d like a copy of the letter template, just email me at [email protected] and I’ll send it over.

Thanks for being part of this journey with me. Every week I share what I’m learning and working on because I believe business owners are stronger when we grow together. Wishing you a week filled with action, clarity, and connection.
