Tristan’s 7+1: What I'm reading, watching, listening to, etc...

Hi ,

The day you stop being curious is the day you start fading. Doesn't matter if it's a new AI tool, an old novel you've read before, or learning that those little plastic wedges in your toolbox are called shims. Curiosity compounds quietly.

Most people don't notice it until they look up one day and realize the curious ones are five years ahead. 🩵

WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT
1-on-1 AI Consulting for Agents. We’re rolling out 1-on-1 AI consulting for agents and team leaders. This isn't a webinar. It isn't a course. It's our team, sitting with you, helping you build your stack, your prompts, your systems, and your workflow for your business and your market. The agents pulling away right now aren't smarter. They just got serious about AI sooner. If that's where you want to be by Q3, let's talk. Email me for more info on pricing.

BOOK I’M READING
Lord of the Flies by William Golding. I picked it up again because the new BBC and Netflix series finally landed and I wanted Golding's words in my head before the show overwrote them. Reading it 25 years after the first time changes the whole thing. Golding wasn't writing about kids on an island. He was writing about every team, every company, every culture that loses its center when no one's watching. It hits different when you've built and run organizations.

WHAT I’M WATCHING
How to Write Something Truly Wise (Maria Popova Interview). Maria Popova built one of the most read personal blogs on the internet, originally Brain Pickings, now The Marginalian. This conversation is about how she reads, how she thinks, and how she writes things people return to for years. If you care about putting work into the world that actually outlasts the algorithm, watch this twice.

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO
Winston Weinberg: Speed, Stress, and Better Decisions on The Knowledge Project. Winston is the CEO of Harvey, the AI platform built for the legal industry, and this might be the most useful startup conversation I've heard all year. His take on using stress to build resilience instead of running from it is gold. So is his framework on making decisions faster and treating most calls as two-way doors. Pour a coffee. Take notes. Listen twice.

WHAT I JUST BOUGHT
Wobble Wedges Plastic Shims. Got some plastic shims to fix a drawer that's been sticking for months. I genuinely didn't know they were called shims until I needed them. Two-dollar fix. Months of annoyance gone in five minutes. Worth it just to add a new word to my vocabulary.

ARTICLE I’M READING
Are You Meeting the Needs of the People You Lead? by Mark van Vugt in HBR. Van Vugt's research argues leadership doesn't fail because of style. It fails because leaders stop reading what their people actually need in the moment. Protection. Fairness. Vision. Expertise. Affiliation. Status. The best leaders diagnose the room before they speak. If you lead a team or run a brokerage, this one's worth a second read.

WHAT TECH I’M TESTING OUT
AutoReel. We're running AutoReel right now for our Y Realty brand. It turns listings, market updates, and content prompts into Reel-ready video at a pace I couldn't match manually. For any agent or brokerage trying to stay top of mind without burning two hours a day editing video, this is one of the most practical tools I've put my hands on this quarter.

WHAT I’M WORKING ON
I'm putting together a breakdown of the 3 best Claude Projects every real estate agent should be running right now. One for lead follow-up. One for content creation. One for market analysis. If you want it, just shoot me an email at [email protected].
