Tristan’s 7+1: What I'm reading, watching, listening to, etc...

It means if you give yourself 2 hours to finish up a task then you’re probably going to take up those 2 hours to finish. Same applies to meetings

I’ve been thinking deeper about Youtube and I want to share with you 9 KEY LESSONS that I’ve outlined for YouTube:

1. Just get started and make your first three videos, even if they're not perfect. Overthinking and fear can hold you back, so it's important to take action and see how you feel about making videos.

2. Commit to YouTube and decide if you want to treat it as a casual hobby or a serious business. If you want to take it seriously, commit to making at least one video a week.

3. Focus on improving the craft of making videos by creating your next seven videos and working on skills like titles, thumbnails, filming, editing, storytelling, and more.

4. Understand the game of YouTube and focus on the three things that matter for growth: click, watch time, and satisfaction.

5. Develop a strategy for your channel, including figuring out your niche by combining your interests, strengths, and target audience to create a unique value proposition.

6. Analyze the market and find your competitive or authentic edge, which could include things like depth of research, storytelling, editing, relatability, diversity, and more.

7. Continue to learn and improve, whether through free resources on YouTube or by investing in courses and other education to grow your skills and knowledge.

8. In order to be successful on YouTube, you need to figure out what makes you unique and stand out in the market.

9. Building systems and leverage can help you create valuable content for your audience within your niche while also saving time.

Book I’m Reading:

The Courage To Be Disliked. Don’t order this one if you aren’t open to disagreeing with the book as you are reading it. The philosophy and the psychology behind the book is based on the famous psychologist Alfred Adler. The book is in a story format between a philosopher and a young student, it was executed well and I enjoyed the read a lot. It challenged my way of thinking and it also made me reflect on how I live my life.

What I’m Watching:

The Key Steps To Finding Your Purpose. I watched and listened to this one as I worked out over the weekend. It made me think about “Why” I do what I do. It really resonated with the book above, but the video is a little over 1 hour long. It’s always great listening to Simon Sinek talk about finding your purpose in life. Great interview.

What I’m Listening To:

Bravery Unmasked. The author of the book, Go Be Brave took an hour to talk to me and Leon Logothetis didn’t disappoint. Leon's personal turning point came at the age of 15 when he was grappling with severe bullying. Torn between silence and seeking help, he chose vulnerability, speaking his truth to his mother. This decision to share his pain set him on a path of self-discovery and bravery that eventually led him to leave his high-powered job in the city of London and embark on a life-changing journey around the world. Listen in please.

What I Just Bought:

Journal Book Refill. I love this journal company and they do such a great job with their journals. I discovered this company through COVID and I’ve been ordering journals since.

Article I’m Reading:

Be Perpetual Learners. Andrew Liveris likes to defy expectations. Born to immigrant parents in the Australian outback, he would eventually rise to the top of the corporate world, taking over in 2004 as CEO of Dow Chemical. In that job, which he held for 14 years, he won widespread credit for pushing an ambitious sustainability agenda, no easy task at one of the world’s biggest chemical producers. In this episode of “The New World of Work”, he offers his thoughts on leadership in tough times. He says executives need to be far more proactive, to find ways to discern relevant facts in a society that increasingly offers competing narratives of the truth. To do this, he says, leaders need to get out to the front lines, to travel, to perpetually reinvent themselves.

What Tech I’m Testing Out:

ChatGPT. While many have stopped using it I think that the consistent use of it and discovering better prompts as it grows has become integral to my business. I use it daily for brainstorming and now I’m using it to help me outline lessons and courses. Here’s a video I did 2 months ago if you want to see how to use it for real estate.
