It’s noisy out there and I want to remind you that what you see on social media, what you see in the news, and what you see in general is not the whole story. Focus on what you can control and remember that people are out there celebrating attention and have mistaken it for success. You stay focused on your priorities!

What I’m Excited About:

The Visionaries. Take a sneak peak! Group coaching for our teams and brokers comes out March 1 and we’re going to run a special on pricing next week! I’m calling it The Visionaries. It’s inspired by Jim Collins, author of Good to Great and Built to Last. He talks about how the job of leaders is to set the vision and continually tweak and remind. In the same way it’s become my job to guide you so you stay on target with all the drastic changes happening in real estate lately. 

Book I’m Reading:

The Creative Act: A Way Of Being. I love this book. I wasn’t sure about it, but it kept coming up in conversations so I dove in. It’s split up into small chapters and each chapter focuses on a part of being creative. The challenges we face and how to overcome them. Very very well written and a great book. 

What I’m Watching:

LCM Video. I’m thinking of redoing this video and updating it because there have been some upgrades to how I do it. I was watching to see what I missed and what I need to add. In the meantime watch it and use it. It’s powerful. 

What I’m Listening To:

Master Negotiator William Ury. This one has been my favorite podcast episode of the year. I must have highlighted half of the podcast and I wrote down a lot of notes. I also ordered William's book so you'll definitely see it in the near future. Powerful, practical, and everyone should listen to this one. 

What I Just Bought:

Lightweight Puffer Jacket. This isn’t cheap, but it’s been the best jacket I bought over the last few years. It’s light, waterproof (so far), and there are some great styles to choose from too. If you’re looking for a great super light jacket then this is the one. It’s just pricey. 

Article I’m Reading:

Negotiate Like A Pro. During his former career as a kidnapping and extortion negotiator, the author handled sensitive cases all over the world. Through his experiences, observations, and conversations with other experts in the field, he developed a deep understanding of what works and what doesn’t in high-stakes negotiations. Now he advises executives and corporations about what he calls the level-five mindset, which involves deep listening to better understand and interpret a counterpart’s self-perception and perspective. He offers eight tools to both ensure and demonstrate that mindset: minimal encouragers, open questions, reflecting back, emotional labeling, paraphrasing, “I” statements, effective pauses, and summarizing. Using them, he writes, will “boost your capacity for empathy, your ability to find common ground, and your chances of gaining your counterpart’s cooperation.”

What Tech I’m Testing Out:

Sora. I’m excited for Open Ai’s video creator to come out. You’ve got to check out their website and get ready for some more amazing stuff. Open Ai is not letting up and they are pushing change fast.
