Tristan’s 7+1: What I'm reading, watching, listening to, etc...
If you want to succeed at something it’s going to look weird to most people that are watching you. You must “stay longer” thinking about it, working on it, reflecting on it, and it ultimately becomes an obsession. There’s nothing wrong with that.

"It’s not that I’m so smart, it’s just that I stay with problems longer." - Albert Einstein
The quote above has been on my mind a lot. I’m always talking to masterminding with extremely successful people and what I notice is the exact thing that Mr. Einstein said.
They seem to be hyper-focused on one thing. They become obsessed with it. It doesn’t just have to be about business, I’ve seen people obsessed with being better parents, taking care of their health, or their learning process.
The point is that if you want to succeed at something it’s going to look weird to most people that are watching you. You must “stay longer” thinking about it, working on it, reflecting on it, and it ultimately becomes an obsession. There’s nothing wrong with that.
Let’s do it…

Book I’m Reading:
Hidden Potential. This was a very good book. I took a lot of notes on this one and it has great research along with good stories. Adam Grant never disappoints.
What I’m Watching:
The ADHD Doctor. This is a great one. It’s long, but it’s worth watching or listening to. This was a great interview that you need to watch just for the mere purpose of understanding how your brain is impacted by some things you wouldn’t even think about.
What I’m Listening To:
Discipline and Resilience. Gio Valiante calls on his vast experience working with some of the world’s top athletes and entrepreneurs. Shane and Valiante discuss developing discipline and resilience in work and life. Valiante offers his thoughts on the five ways to gain an advantage and win and how to change your habits. He also discusses the role your environment plays in discipline and how you can develop resilience in yourself and your children.
What I Just Bought:
Sony Vlogging Camera. This is less expensive than most of the cameras I currently use to shoot my videos and it’s just as good. The lens would be the only thing you need to buy separately. If you’re looking to up your camera game and use it for webinars or just shooting video around town and home then this is the one for you.
Article I’m Reading:
A growth mindset. In the U.S., the value of the federal minimum wage has declined to record lows due to rising inflation. Recent research sheds light on a new factor that may contribute to people’s opinions for or against raising the minimum wage: a growth vs. fixed mindset. The authors hypothesized that decision-makers’ mindsets about intelligence — specifically the belief that abilities are stable (i.e., a fixed mindset) rather than the belief that abilities can grow and develop over time (i.e., a growth mindset) — might contribute to people’s opposition to increasing low-wage workers’ compensation. This held true in correlational and experimental studies, and this pattern held among those who identified as “liberal” or “conservative,” as well as across the social class and income spectrum. While mindsets are just one of the many systemic and psychological factors that contribute to support for or against raising the minimum wage, these findings suggest that grassroots advocates, managers, and business and political leaders seeking support for increasing low-wage workers’ wages may want to consider invoking the growth mindset about intelligence.
What Tech I’m Testing Out:
Chat GPT. This thing keeps changing so fast and if you want to stay up to date with it then please keep on coming back for more. I’ve been scripting with the AI all week. It’s amazing. The voice option is only on the mobile app, but it’s amazing!
What I’m Working On:
A Community Doc. Today I’ll be going over building a community with my group coaching people. If you’re not in group coaching take a peek at the google doc and see if you can learn a few things on building a community online. Text me to 310-356-3715 and I’ll send it.
