Tristan’s 7+1: What I'm reading, watching, listening to, etc...

This week I want you to focus on 1 of 2 things.

We just did a 30-minute mastermind on staying focused on bettering yourself. The idea is to pick one of the two following things.

One - Slow down so you do it better. You’ve got to pick one thing that you know you can be doing better. It can be something for yourself, for your family, or your business. What is it?

Two - Learn something new. You’ve got to choose one thing that you can learn. Something new, something that inspires you, something that you know is important to your development.

Once you choose that thing then do the following 5 things:

  1. Put it on your Calendar every day for the following 7 days. Even if you just work on it daily for 15 min.

  2. Dig deeper. I want you to focus and explore all the different options that you haven’t looked at here. Take notes, and stick with it longer. Most things take a long time to develop.

  3. Test it. Once you think you have it down now it’s time to take action with it. Put it into play or go out and do it. It’s not going to look amazing but do it anyway.

  4. Teach it. Most people stop before they get here, but if you want ot internalize what you are learning or slow down to do a better job with then you’re going to teach it. Put it up on social media. Put it in a newsletter…

  5. Tweak it. As you put it into play and teach it you will find that you will have to add or take away things. This part is what makes things better. Don’t skip this last part as you grow.

Now choose One or Two?

What I’m Excited About:

The ABT Shop. It’s now running. Will we be tweaking it in the near future? Probably, but it’s live and I love the hats. Take a look at it and let me know what you think of it or if you’d like us to add anything.

Book I’m Reading:
The Way is Within. I’ve had this book for years and I never took the time to read it. I finally jumped in this weekend. You can read this book from cover to cover of open it up at any page. Take time to ponder the words in its pages, the slower you go, the deeper the message will be.

What I’m Watching:
The Lie You’ve Been Told About YouTube. This was a great video to listen to. Outside of the fact that she’s selling a course she gave some really good advice about Ning down and creating valuable content on YouTube. Worth the watch.

What I’m Listening To:

Short Term Patience, Long Term Results. This episode has some timeless advice along with practical advice that if applied to your business this year you will see growth. Gayner and Shane reflect on the most important life lessons they’ve learned from Munger (including their first-hand observations), what to look for when evaluating a company, and the importance of evaluating your opportunity costs before making decisions.

What I Just Bought:

Pilot G-2. I’m always in search for the best pen. I write a lot and I need the tool for writing to be smooth and practical. This one does both. It’s not expensive and can be carried everywhere.

Article I’m Reading:
6 Questions to ask at the midpoint of your career. If you aren’t at the midpoint these are great! It’s common to wrestle with feelings of unmet expectations, missed opportunities, and paths not taken when you reach the midpoint of your career. But experts say that arriving at middle-age is also a profound opportunity for growth and self-reflection. It’s a chance to reevaluate your priorities, draw from your experience, and carve out a path that aligns with your goals for the second half of your professional life.

What Tech I’m Testing Out:

Runway. My friend Eric Hudson told me about this one in a mastermind session in Drunk on Social. It’s a fun ai tool that makes videos off an ai phrase or word. It’s fun and can be used well on social. I would recommend you play with it.

What I’m Working On:

Our Newsletter Ideas. We just updated our Newsletter Ideas PDF. If you want the latest one it’s easy to use and it has some powerful ideas. You know the drill, just text me at: 310-356-3715.
