Tristan’s 7+1: What I'm reading, watching, listening to, etc...
It means if you give yourself 2 hours to finish up a task then you’re probably going to take up those 2 hours to finish. Same applies to meetings

Parkinson’s Law…
Work expands based on the time allocated for its completion. Ring a bell?
It means if you give yourself 2 hours to finish up a task then you’re probably going to take up those 2 hours to finish. Same applies to meetings…
Look at your calendar and see how you can finish up quicker, how you can shorten the time to get things done. Don’t overthink things and time yourself when doing tasks.
You’ll learn more from taking action and the experience of the process if you adapt along the way. Take more action, plan less. Unless you’re building a rocket, then please take your time.
Let’s Go!
What I’m Excited About:
Virtual Event With Lab Coat Agents. We’ve brought together our top sponsors and they will be providing value for you for free. A few hours of jammed pack actionable things that are working in the current market. Get ready to have some fun while learning A LOT!
Book I’m Reading:
The Score Takes Care of Itself. I just got this over the weekend and I’m excited to wrap this one up. I’ve heard a lot of great things about it and I’m just in the first section of the book called; An Environment Of Excellence. So far it’s GREAT!
What I’m Watching:
Casey Neistat's SECRET to Filmmaking. This is 48 minutes long and it’s really good. The most apparent thing about the video is that when it comes to storytelling we often overthink what we’re going to say on Camera. We’ve got to take action and just get to the point that we are shooting video consistently and the rest will take care of itself. The video is great!
What I’m Listening To:
Change the way you work. What if you could change the way your company operates, even if you’re not the CEO? Aaron Dignan believes it’s possible, and in this episode he’s offering a wealth of insights into how organizations are run, the perils of stagnant bureaucracy, and all the various hurdles keeping us from doing our best work.
What I Just Bought:
After Action Review Tool. This really caught my attention so I ordered it. I always find myself not reflecting enough after an important meeting or event and I want to work on that more. The Summary section prompts recall of key events and details, while the Analysis section encourages thorough examination of what worked, what didn't, and why. The Implementation section ensures that insights gained are translated into actionable steps for improvement.
Article I’m Reading:
Mastering the art of the request. Even the most effective leaders recognize how much is outside of their control, but one thing we all have agency over is how we communicate with others. Clearly articulated requests, the kinds that elicit real responses, don’t come naturally to most of us. As it turns out, there’s an art to the request — whether it’s directed at an employee who’s producing subpar deliverables or a colleague from a different department who hasn’t been pulling their weight on a collaborative project. Here’s why requests are so hard to make, what so many leaders are still getting wrong, and a handful of strategies for issuing requests that elicit concrete, actionable responses.
What Tech I’m Testing Out:
Scribeshow. This is a great and easy way to create a step by step guide in seconds. I’ve been testing this out for the people on my team and for the leadership on my team to instruct our staff better.
What I’m Working On:
Another great PDF! My team is on fire lately and they keep on releasing some seriously great stuff. This one is all about Google and how to improve your business page. If you want it just text me to: (310) 356-3715
